Many business leaders prefer 16 hour flights in coach than wanting to hangout, listen and engage in social media spheres. Yet; no matter what business you are in, the keys to success lie in successful social media marketing. Effective social media marketing means that you are able to draw your audiences (notice I say audiences because your larger target is to be siloed down into homologous cliques) in, and offer advantages that have them come out on top.

Once a business learns to appropriately dress for social media engagement, it quickly finds that its family of advocates will shout from the roof tops about you. All you have to do is be there and provide a tone that displays energy plus enthusiasm packed with advantageousness for them.
Cue: How To Do Social Media Marketing
First: Recognize where the bulk of your target audience socially clusters. If you find that your audiences participate in multiple (which they will) social fields, take on one or two at a time.
Second: Listen, listen, and listen some more. Then challenge yourself to what insights you have to offer that have not been offered before.
Ask yourself, “So What? Why Would That Matter?”
Third: Know your stuff before engaging. The more insights you have to offer that have not been raised before; the more magnetic you will be. This builds trust.
Fourth: Don’t pitch or push. Social media marketing is about building relationships, and trust. No one friends a drunk at a social mixer.
Fifth: Speak in a natural voice. I, you, me, us are great to use. Opening lines of “The goal of ____”, or “Our mission is ____” are not natural. You’ll only be talking to yourself then.
Sixth: Have a sense of humor. If criticized, own up. Your goal is to be part of the social clique not own or control it. In other words, posture relaxed so that you’ll be able to move comfortably within each social cluster and clique.
Seventh: Always respond when spoken at, or to. When you ignore, so will your target audience.
